Secrets of the Blood: Discovering my DNA in Dublin

After staying up nearly 2 days straight, I finally sat down and checked out my DNA results from 23andMe.

While not entirely surprising, there is a hint of what’s been suspected for a while.  There’s also 2 videos, as I learned something about the results after shutting off the camera the first time.

So, now that I know what’s what, what’s next?

I’m not quite sure. These results, while personally fascinating, don’t change anything about who I am today or the life I’ve built, but they do address the beginning of another inquiry, one that could be lived out through more DNA and geographic investigation into how my family first arrived in Eastern Europe or it could all be incorporated into a new story, perhaps of how it could have happened.

That’s the beauty of writing, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, in the mind it’s what’s true.
